Keeping a Sketchbook!

26 April 2017

I'm a huge fan of sketchbooks (probably my attempts to keep them always come up short). In fact, I'm not good at keeping a sketchbook at all! If I don't like something, I end up starting over on the next page. So when I get to the end of a sketchbook (which rarely happens!), it's all these weird, half drawn pages which are trying too hard to look nice (and neat).
However, I've been trying to change my approach for future sketching. A sketchbook doesn't need to be precious or perfect (I've actually written this down on a post-it note to remind myself every day!). It's a place to explore ideas, shapes, patterns and textures. A sketchbook is a powerful place; it's the only place where illustrators can play - try out new techniques, subject matter, or even jot down the occasional notes (in my case, drawing new characters!). It's like seeing how someone's mind works. It's pretty interesting!
I stopped sketching few months ago (not to mention, blogging as well), because perfectionism is the only reason that makes me procrastinate (for a long long time)! But I've made up my mind that I want to be open and share imperfect and unfinished work. I know that my sketchbook doesn't have to look pretty, it just has to exist. I'm going to fill it (and my blog) with my work, my ideas and the stuff I care about. I won't let my sketchbook to fall into neglect. I will think about it in the long term. I'll stick with it, maintain it and let it change with me over time. So, my plan is to do a weekly update on my sketchbook here on my blog and  I'm happy to be back! :)
Oh also, check out Molly Egan's sketchbook. She uses old (unwanted) books as sketchbooks for showcasing her vibrant and bold imagery. Pretty cool!
Good night! x

Interiors Inspiration #1

24 August 2016

Hello dear friends and happy Wednesday to you! Few months ago I came across a wonderful blog called decor8. Do you know about it? It's just addictive; The pictures are beautiful and delightful, the people who've been interviewed are very talented and there are lots of creative tips that you can take away from each blogpost. So if you're passionate about interior decoration and looking for a great source of inspiration, have a look at this blog and I'm sure you'll be hooked!
I've been reading decor8 blog for a while now and been saving all my favourite pictures for a quick burst of interior design ideas. I always feel a chill of excitement when looking at beautiful spaces which are filled with character, warmth, meaningful touches and personalized nooks. Here's a few cozy interiors that ooze with charm and creativity. Not to mention, I keep visualising myself living in these lovely spaces... a girl can dream, right?! :)

Life Lately...

15 August 2016

Happy Monday, everyone! I've been meaning to write this blogpost ages ago, but even today, after I finished writing it, I ironed almost all my clothes - this is a typical way of procrastination by the way! Anyway, I hope you're having a lovely summer (hopefully you're not boiling or anything)! If there's one thing I love more than anything (aside from cats, popcorn, salted caramel ice cream, chocolate truffles and red wine), it's 'floating around' London and coming in contact with different sights, sounds and scents and not really knowing what's going to happen next... I think it's that sort of spontaneous experience that keeps a day fresh! Although, I've been quite lazy for the last few weeks (just going to the same places over and over again!) and didn't really explore new places, but the weather's been too nice recently not to go out. It's actually that kind of weather that if I don't go out, I feel extremely guilty! Anyway, here's a few photos of my new found favourite spots and some wonderful little moments that I managed to capture!
